Time is of the essence.  (someone famous said that and if I was preparing to go on Who wants to be a Millionaire, I woud do a bit of research, find out who, and commit it to memory)

But my only point is to say time is important.

We need time; time to work, time to play, time to cook, time to clean, time to make money, time to manage our money, time to spend our money (okay so that really doesn’t take much time at all), time to work on our marraige, time to spend with our kids, time to figure out what is wrong with our kids and how to fix it, time to create, time to reflect, time to celebrate, time to prepare…and the list goes on and on.

Some people are making thousands, hundreds of thousands of dollars selling systems to help us manage our time.  Franklin Time Management was (perhaps still is) a popular white collar time management system.  Manager of their Homes, is a time management system for homemakers (or are we now domestic engineers?)

Neither system schedules any time for the unexpected; time to answer the phone when a dear old friend calls, time to chat with a neighbor, time to kiss a skinned knee, time to help fix a flat tire on the side of the road, time to stitch a torn teddy bear’s arm…endless things that just ‘come up’.

There are people who say ‘if only there were more hours in the day’. Those are the same people who come up with more ‘stuff’ we need to do’ to fill up our time.

Did someone famous say ‘Time is our greatest commodotity, we can spend it, we can waste it or we can invest it’.

What should I do with my time today?  What will you do with yours?
